Sweet Baby Day

"A child’s consciousness is so mother-haunted that although the child is not consciously thinking of its mother, yet when calamity arises, the relationship that abides is that of the mother." ~Oswald Chambers Another thought that goes with the last, found here. A thought from my devotional. My son and I read the same these days. We didn't even know. We found out by accident a few weeks ago. He told me about some truth that he had read. And I had just read the same. And that's when we found out that we were both using the same devotional. Now we often discuss what we've read. His insights are sometimes new thoughts to me. Remember, the only teacher that he ever had up until college that wasn't me was his kindergarten teacher. And now sometimes the teacher becomes the student. He won't admit to such a thing. But I love it! Yesterday I had my precious grandbaby all to myself for the whole day. It was the first time he had been away from his momma for more than just an hour or two. He had just turned four months old the day before. If you would like to see him, go to my personal Facebook page and look at my current profile photo. He was three hours old when that was taken. Anyway, you forget. I had forgotten how all consuming that role is. How every moment, even in sleep, that child is so dependent on you. His whole world is encompassed around his mother, or in this case, just for the day, his grandmother. For his food and comfort and joy and love. His entire being each moment is dependent on that relationship. The good times and the bad. Things needful and things for pleasure. The joy filled talks and the showering off in the sink. The laughter and the tears. All for his good. All centered on one person, who made up his being on this particular day. Me. His grandma. I lost myself that day in him. And he in me. "So we are to live and move and have our being in God, to look at everything in relation to God, because the abiding consciousness of God pushes itself to the front all the time." "If we are haunted by God, nothing else can get in, no cares, no tribulation, no anxieties. We see now why Our Lord so emphasized the sin of worry. How can we dare be so utterly unbelieving when God is round about us? To be haunted by God is to have an effective barricade against all the onslaughts of the enemy." "His soul shall dwell at ease." ~Psalm 25:13 Oh, the things that you learn in the storm and on the other side! When God teaches you alone in the darkness what you can only learn there. When you've learned to be empty. When you've learned that the only real strength is His, and it's only made perfect in your total weakness. Like the needs of Calvin, my precious grandbaby. God help me to be just like that with You, every remaining day of my life!
