Blindness!

I was traveling through the back roads of Florida the other morning, early. I was driving. It was only five-thirty when I began my journey. It would take an hour and a half to reach my destination if I didn't run into traffic. There would be some highway travel, so I allowed more than two hours to get where I was going. The sky was clear and there was still a sliver of a moon hanging low before me. It was very dark as I began driving. And as I traveled over roads and bridges, I had to turn my wipers on over and over again. But not a drop of rain fell. The air was heavy with moisture. Later in the day we would call it humidity. Now, I am not a big fan of humidity or the heat that goes with it. But on this particular morning, the mist and fog in the air would cover my windshield with a light blanket, making it impossible to see. And so, those wipers came into play over and over again. And as it is so many times, God used that mist to whisper to me. I thought of how amazing it is, the way that God does all things so perfectly. How all of nature is orchestrated into perfect harmony at His Hand. I wonder why so many choose not to see. Psalms 69:34 - "Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein." And they do! God uses this mist to water the earth. Some surmise that the first time God sent rain was when He sent the flood. Now I can't tell you that I can verify that from the Word of God, but I can tell you for sure that God didn't need it to rain in order to send the moisture needed to water the earth. Because He tells us so. Genesis 2:5-6 - "And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground." And so, as I drove, this mist would suddenly cover the windshield, especially as I would approach a body of water. I would quickly flip on those wipers. But for a split second, I was driving blind. Very scary. But there are new wiper blades on that car-- good ones. And with just one quick swipe, my vision would be crystal clear again. And that is the way it is in this life. Something comes up suddenly and throws a blanket over your vision. Life feels out of control, and you can't see a thing. But we said it the other day. Things are never out of God's control. You are the one behind the covered windshield. He sees clearly, and is in complete control. Always! You may feel a moment of panic, traveling along at high speed without the ability to see what is before you. Driving blindly. But rest assured that God is there. And he will clear your vision when He is ready. In the meantime, let Him steer and try to relax. Joshua 1:9 - "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." Isaiah 41:10 - "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." He's got this! Trust Him! Your vision will clear again when He is ready. :)
