Think On These Things

After more than a week of not having the tv on except for the Orioles games, I turned it on yesterday afternoon. There is a news program that I like to have playing in the background as I get ready on Wednesday afternoons. I know the ebb & flow of the program. 'One More Thing' means that I should be walking out the door if I don't want to be late. I didn't get to 'One More Thing'. I turned it off. At one time this was a must-see program for me-- one of my favorite shows. I watched it every day if I were at home. But not this week, and not for quite some time. My heart just can't take it. You may think that I've chosen to bury my head in the sand. I used to be on top of current events and could discuss them knowledgeably. But now I choose not to. Feel free to call that whatever you want. You are dealing with someone who doesn't care what others think anymore, remember? :) When you remove God from nearly every part of society, this is what life looks like. I used to wonder how the events prophesied in the Bible could happen. I didn't doubt it, but I pondered on how we would get there. How could there be such hate and meanness and lawlessness? 2 Timothy 3:1-4~ "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God." I used to think that these things would take place after the rapture. After the saved were gone. I thought that these things were only possible without the Holy Spirit's presence on this earth. Without the saved of God standing for what is good and right. But I was wrong. Again, my own wisdom and not God's. But I can tell you this. It will be a fearful thing to live here when the Holy Spirit of God is gone, if we're seeing these things happen now.

The news is depressing. Facebook is depressing. I'm about to shut it all down. I cannot dwell on these things. I know better! I know the value that God has put on every person on this earth, regardless of the color of their skin, their past, or their social status. Our value was written with the Blood of Christ, who loved me and gave Himself for me. And for you, no matter who you are. If you have never trusted Christ and made sure of your home in heaven, today is the day. You can learn how here. And if you are one of the redeemed of the Lord, saved by Jesus' finished work on the cross, live like it and make a difference in this crazy, ungodly world. Show others the Lord in you and His love for them. Point them to Jesus, for the time is short, the summer is almost ended, and we are not all saved. (A very loose borrowing from Jeremiah 8:20) Don't be discouraged. God has not forgotten us. He still walks with me and talks with me. His fellowship is still precious and sweet. I know His presence. And I know when to turn off the tv, shut down facebook, and do what God says. Philippians 4:8~ "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
